general cutoff mark is 120….schools can now
decide own..
2018 ADMISSION POLICIES ADOPTED BY JAMB
1.Beware of Change of Institution. Prof Oloyede
warns.
2.Beware of the information you submit while
registering. Your date of birth can cost you a lot
when you are to be mobilized for NYSC – Prof
Oloyede
3.We are introducing a process to ensure
admission is not delayed – Jamb
4.Universities are not permitted to hold on to a
candidate for a long period. Once a University
cannot admit, she is expected to release them to
other Universities
5.Before now, a candidate applies for Medicine
and because the University needs more students
in Agric, such student is moved to the
department. The damaged is caused because
such student won’t get to know until a later
date. With the new system, no more
6.Every University has their Quota by Jamb
already. We might not be able to release some
information now. Meanwhile, Universities can
request for more Quota
7.With the new system, no candidates can
upload a fake O level result as done before now.
8.With the new system that will be implemented,
a candidate can with the use of a USSD code,
confirm or reject his/her admission. You can
also confirm your admission status as a
candidate
9.All Universities are now expected to obey and
comply with the timeline of admission with the
new system
10.All Universities still have the flexibility to
create their cut off marks. This will be done
between now and tomorrow
11.All Universities will input their cut off marks
this afternoon after lunch – Jamb
12.All Universities will download the list of
students who chose them today also. Meanwhile,
there is a risk in this.
13.With the information here, Post Utme
Screening results is part of the admission
processing.
14.Jamb will keep suggesting to Universities
qualified students
15.No automatic admission for those without the
necessary requirement. For those that met with
the requirement, Jamb will contact the said
institution to know why they are not admitted yet
16.Once a candidate accepts an admission, the
window is closed for such candidate for that
year. These are the benefits of the new system
– Jamb
17.The new system is a secured one. So all
stake holders present should be relaxed.
18.Jamb is no longer releasing any further
results. Meanwhile, more measures will be taken
to avoid fraudsters during Jamb. – Prof Oloyede

any higher institution.

said we will allow Post Utme for those who
wants to do it. He did not impose it- Prof
Oloyede
25.Jamb cannot decide cut off marks for
Universities – Prof Oloyede
26.ASUU shouldn’t affect admission processing.

year – Prof Oloyede
27.All available national/west africa certificates
are available for admission. Nothing like ICTS
result-Prof Oloyede
28.If you have not uploaded your O level before
now, please do. But if you have before now, no
problem – Jamb
29.No student will be admitted with Awaiting
Result – Prof Oloyede
30.Jamb will not wait for Neco but will be
flexible. Once the result is out, they can send it
to us
31.I want to air my view in line with Post Utme
Exam. It appears some Universities will not be
having it this year because it is late
already, while some Universities will gladly adopt
it. Meanwhile, all students are to prepare for
both.
32.Students are free to transfer from one
University to the other. This Law has been in
existence 29years ago. No University has the
right to disqualify any student once he or she is
qualified…

USES & Benefits of CAPs
To Check Admission Status

Candidates become aware of available spaces in Universities and Universities are aware of available students.
O’ level Examination bodies such as  WAEC , NECO & NABTEB are to submit their result to Jamb, therefore Jamb becomes a verification body for O’ level results.
Candidates are able to accept or reject admission when not given their preferred choice and Jamb is to send those student to the market place where other institutions can go to offer admission to candidates of their choice.

The Procedures to access the CAPS Portal for checking JAMB Admission Status is highlighted below.
HOW TO CHECK ADMISSION STATUS ON JAMB CAPS PORTAL.

To use one of the features of the CAPS portal which is checking admission status, please use the guidelines below to successfully check and confirm your admission status.

STEPS
1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile.

2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with.

3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page.

4. You’ll see CAPS under the tag ‘Admissions’. Click on it and you’ll be taken to the CAPS page.

5. If the page only shows ‘welcome’, do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile’s browser and change the view of the page to ‘desktop view’. This is why it’s preferably to use a PC.

6. You’ll see some options listed at the left-hand side. Click on ‘Admission Status‘.

7. It’ll then bring your details. If you’ve been admitted, you can either ‘Accept admission’ or ‘Reject admission’.
Once you are on your JAMB CAPS page, the important thing you should look out for is what is written under “ADMISSION STATUS”
If you have been offered an admission, what you will find under your ADMISSION STATUS is “CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION!”.
You will equally see two buttons under it : “ACCEPT ADMISSION ” and “REJECT ADMISSION ”. You are expected to click on the appropriate button to either accept or reject the admission .

Like JAMB said earlier, if you accept the admission, it means the admission window for that session has closed for you. If you reject the admission, you will be available in CAPS MARKET PLACE for other schools to consider you for admission.
On the other hand, if your admission has not been approved yet, what you will find under your admission status is “NOT ADMITTED ”, “ADMISSION IN PROGRESS” or “ RECOMMENDED……”
Now, “NOT ADMITTED ” means two things;
(a) that your school of choice has not sent or proposed any list of admitted candidates to JAMB.
(b) It can equally mean that your school has sent in the list of admitted candidates but you have not been considered for admission.

If your Admission status says NOT ADMITTED, you can check back later to see if there are any changes especially if your school of choice has not released its admission list (either on its website or Notice Board) when you first checked JAMB CAPS.

ADMISSION IN PROGRESS ” is likely to mean that you have met the requirements to be admitted in your school of choice, but for certain reasons like Admission Quota and other admission criteria of your school of choice, your admission is still pending. Candidates in this category may be offered admission later if other candidates offered admission by the school decides to reject their admission thereby creating room for more admission slots.
“RECOMMENDED ” means that you have been considered for admission but your admission is still under review to ensure you meet all admission criteria set by your institution and JAMB.
Worthy of Note:
You are not advised to use the CAPS portal until your school of choice has released the admission list.
Once you click the accept admission button, it will not be reversed as you have accepted it.
If your admission status or other details is blank or shows “-“, don’t worry. Jamb is still uploading the details, so just keep checking.
If your school is yet to release admission list, it will read: “admission in progress, check back later” under the tag ‘ Admission Status‘. In this case, you won’t be able to click on the ‘Accept admission ’ or ‘Reject admission ’ button.
